Why does CrossGame have a weird chapter numbering?
Because volume 1 is considered as part 1, and Adachi restarted his chapter numbering with part 2 (starting vol 2).
What are these part 1 and 2?
Part 1 (vol 1) is basically the first part of CrossGame's story. The second part, vol 2 and onwards, starts a new 'era', and is thus called part 2.
